Diet and your Headaches

If you suffer from headaches, you might want to take a closer look at your diet. Several doctors believe that headaches can be the result of food allergies. If you find that you are suffering from frequent and chronic headaches, especially if they can be classified as migraine headaches, you will need to examine your diet in order to see if the symptoms might be in the foods that you might be eating.

One of the main foods that can be the cause of headaches is chocolate. If you are consuming lots of chocolate and getting headaches, this can sometimes be the cause. Several people might be allergic to chocolate and get headaches after eating this sweet treat. If you find that chocolate tends to aggravate the pain of headaches, then you should try to be more moderate in your consumption of it.

Another culprit behind the cause of headaches is alcohol, especially wine. Due to the fact that wine has so many preservatives, most people who consume wine tend to suffer from wine headaches. Excessive wine headaches can be very problematic and disruptive. There are pills that you can take for wine headaches but the jury is still out as to their effect.

Though caffeine might not cause headaches, withdrawal from caffeine can also cause a tremendous headache. If you are used to having a cup of coffee every morning or drinking large quantities of tea and then suddenly stopping, you should be prepared for a headache. A sudden withdrawal from caffeine will cause headaches in most people. If you would like to avoid getting headaches from caffeine withdrawal, you should try to taper off your use in a gradual manner.

Caffeine is also able to cure bad headaches. If you have been suffering from migraine headaches, caffeine is sometimes recommended as a potential cure for headaches. You should try sipping a can of cola from a straw. There is a theory that the caffeine interacting with the aluminum in the can will be able to relieve certain bad headaches. The jury is still unclear about this cure, although some people tend to swear by it.

If you find that you are having headaches without knowing the reason, one thing that you can do in order to help yourself is to start a food diary. You should try to keep track of the foods that you eat and what you drink every day. In this way, when you get a migraine headache, you will be able to see if it is related to any kinds of food. In the majority of cases, you might see a correlation between the foods that you choose to eat and the time when you get the headaches.

No one is ever sure why people get headaches, but the amount of people who experience migraine headaches has been rising. Some doctors even believe that the cause of these headaches might be environmental, whilst others blame the chemicals that are put in our foods. Diet does sometimes play a huge part in why some people suffer from headaches, but as of yet, there has been no real headache diet invented. If you ever suffer from headaches, you should try to keep a record of what you eat in order to see if there might be any possible connection between your diet and your headaches.
